Computer Lessons At Home – FAQ’s
Learning computer basics may seem a bit scary if you haven’t used much technology up until now. We’ve made up a list of questions frequently asked questions right here to help put your mind at ease, and to make it a bit easier for you to get the answers you’re looking for. This list will be continually added to as questions are asked in order to make it more useful for you. What do I need to do before receiving training?
It’s a great idea to be very clear on the outcomes you wish to achieve from your training. Write down a list of the tasks you wish to learn, or the computer problems or name of the computer software if you know what it is.
What if the training I need doesn’t take an hour?
Prices are quoted for the whole hour as this covers travelling costs (in most cases). Don’t worry, when it comes to learning computer basics there is always plenty to learn, so we can find something else for you to absorb!
How much does it cost?
Learning computer basics doesn’t have to cost the earth. Prices start at just $45 per hour for a pensioner who visits us in Walkley Heights, Adelaide SA.

What would I need to learn to keep in touch with my family and friends?
You would need to know some basic email techniques, keyboarding skills and have an active internet connection. You may also need a web camera/microphone or built in camera/microphone in order to see and talk to family and friends. Just ask us for some advice if you are not sure.
How long does it take to learn Facebook/photos/email…etc
The time is takes to learn something new varies from individual to individual. Learning a new skill requires following several steps that we can provide for you in writing so you don’t forget them. You can then practice the skill until it becomes second nature. Learning to compose and send an email may take 30 minutes to explain and try, but practice makes perfect, as they say!
If I come to you, can I use your computer/device?
Yes you can use our computer and internet connection or BYO, the choice is yours. It’s often in your interest to use your own equipment just so that you become familiar with it, so that it’s easier to remember what to do after your training is done.
Is there a list of courses available that I can choose from?
Not as such. We’re all about personalizing the content taught so that it’s exactly what you want to know, nothing more or less. Everyone is different so it doesn’t make sense for us to create a course that isn’t 100% relevant to your requirements. If you want to learn a specific application, have a chat with us about the end result you’re after, and we’ll let you know what you’ll need to learn in order to achieve your objective.
What can I learn about?
Check out our list of services here, there’s a large range of applications we can teach you on a large range of devices. If there’s anything you want help with that isn’t included in this list please just ask the question. We’ll endeavour to do whatever we can to help you out.
What do I need to know before I come to training?
All you need to know is what it is you want to achieve. There are no prerequisites. The training starts from the point at which you’re at, no matter where that is. We’re not here to judge you in any way, but simply to give you the education you need to do whatever it is you want to do.
How much notice do I need to give you before coming to training?
It’s always best to give at least a few day’s notice, so that we can arrange a time that suits us both. When you contact us let us know how urgent your requirement is, and we’ll fit you in accordingly.
Do you offer online training?
No, this is not our style. Online training is impersonal and doesn’t cater for your personal needs. We prefer to give you the training you need in person, where if necessary we can explain things in different ways and at whatever pace works for you, to ensure you end up with the knowledge you require.
Can training times change?
Yes of course life does not stop for computer training! Obviously the more notice you can give the better for all concerned.
Can you help me on my smartphone/tablet?
Yes absolutely – iPad’s, iPhone’s, Android driven tablets and smartphones are all devices we can help you with. These days alot of people are actually using these devices more than a traditional desktop computer or laptop. Sometimes we even help people set up smart TV’s (internet connected)
